September is World Leukemia Awareness Month and EPCALM has invited two foreign guests to enhance the observance of this global campaign. Dr. Ronald Gress, MD of the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute, Bethesda Maryland and Dr. Robert Baugher, Phd of Highline College in Des Moines, Washington, USA.
EPCALM is a service organization that aims to provide personalized and family oriented support to those afflicted with leukemia and their families. Our mission is to reach out to these families and their communities as well in order to create an awareness of the plight of leukemia patients and that with concerted efforts the outcome of the disease can be favorable.
Hence, we find it vital to join the world in observing September as World Leukemia Awareness month (WLAM).
EPCALM will once again lead the country in the awareness campaign for leukemia and its multifaceted concerns from the physical, financial emotional or psychosocial and spiritual aspects. This is the second year of our observance. We hope that soon our efforts to elevate this observance to a truly national level will be attained by a signed executive order from Pres. Aquino which is now in process.
We have invited two foreign speakers, Dr. Ronald Gress, MD from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda Maryland and Dr. Robert Baugher, Phd from Washington State to bring in updates on the physical and emotional care towards the comprehensive care of leukemia.
The EPCALM Adult Leukemia Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. invites everybody to the observance of the World Leukemia Awareness Month (WLAM) this whole month of September 2014, here in the Philippines.
This will be the first time that the WLAM will be celebrated locally, so we in EPCALM are excited to spearhead this first ever celebration.
We will be posting a list of activities and media events to raise the awareness of the prevalence of Leukemia in our country.
Hope to see you in all or any of our events that we have lined up.
